Today' Game - Don't Be Fooled.....

Today' Game - Don't Be Fooled.....

Postby SU DOG » Wed Jan 24, 2018 5:18 pm

...into thinking the Mocs are the same team our Dogs dominated in December at the PHC. They have gotten over some injuries and are vastly improved. I watched their game at Wofford, and if not for some last minute heroics by Fletcher Magee( what else is new?), they would have beaten the Terriers in Spartanburg. Instead they fell by four points. UTC also took Mercer to OT. They are a dangerous team right now. We will have to play really well.
Hope we can pull it off.

Must win game to have any chance at a 9-9 record.

Can't throw it in the ocean. NO rebounding. Little defense, and NO answer inside. :(

This type of game has happened all year. Cut the lead to 2-4 and then we can’t do anything right

RPI is now 283 and we just lost to a team with an RPI of 303. We only have three more games from here on out in which we will play teams with a lower RPI than ours. After a 20 win last season, a 20 loss this season appears likely.

Just wondering if anyone on this board is going to acknowledge that the Best center in our league(& only player on our team that is physical or can score in the post) & the all-time assist leader of the school have basically missed the whole season. Obviously I’m not happy with the record but can we at least acknowledge that if Cam Jackson & Trevor Stumpe weren’t playing this year Wofford wouldn’t be very good. If Desante Bradford & Peter Jurkin were out ETSU wouldn’t be as good. If Matt Rafferty & Devin Sibley were out Furman would be struggling. I could go on with the rest of the league but I think you get the point. Any team in the country that loses 2 players as important as the ones we lost, is going to struggle. Hopefully we can find a way to finish strong & get a top 6 seed.

It's been acknowledged on this board on numerous occasions.

Some people's frustration including myself is the fact they we never signed a backup center that wasnt a walk-on. And neither of those two are big enough to be centers

Valid concerns yes, but there is an impressive 7 footer waiting, and although he will only have the one year, you can't see this kind of thing(injuries) coming. I don't know if Wyatt will accept the RS or not, but if so, just think how good that would be next season. I cut the staff some slack on this issue. There could even be an undergrad player we have our eyes set on.

Related note: I saw a video this morning on Twitter from Channel 18 in Lexington. Steven Fitzgerald is actually a leading candidate for Mr. Basketball in the state of Kentucky. He is averaging 33 ppg and his high for one game is 54 points. :o His coach says the "big boys" specifically Indiana and Vanderbilt will regret not getting this kid. Wish I could link this video from Twitter, but I don't know how. If someone else can, please do so, as it is worth watching.
