I don't think we had a single offensive possession in the overtime that I would categorize as being quality....bad passes, over penetration, bad shots, bad decisions, turnovers. This one was there for the taking if we had played within ourselves.

4 TO’s in OT.

Fought back to force OT, but those TO’s hurt.

Valiant effort to come back and get it to overtime. Then a complete composure implosion. Complete in the sense that our game plan went stupid and then we matched that with equally poor execution. When the game gets tight, the coach gets up tight, the players get up tight and the bench (and offense) gets short and . . . . its Samford basketball. You aren’t going to score points in tight games playing two man offense. Really dumb strategy in OT.
In an imperfect world, absolute truth is divisive. There's no unity in truth. Decide then whether truth before unity or unity before truth?

For those that thought the OT was bad, I'd love to hear your thoughts on the 1st half, lol. We were sloppy with the ball and got absolutely manhandled on the boards. We got 5 points and 1 rebound total in 40 minutes from our bench. Our reluctance to play our bench guys more minutes in the non conference to help develop them may come back to bite us in league play and beyond.

I can claim ignorance since I didn’t start following the game until late in the second half. Was wondering how we had dug ourselves into such a hole in the first half.

Between 2nd chance points and points off turnovers, we got outscored 32-5 in the 1st half. Our bench got outscored 44-5 for the game. Kids played really hard in the 2nd half. These next two road games are crucial.

Thanks for the link. I was wondering why the twitterverse had exploded this morning when I first checked Twitter. That exchange didn’t come across the stat line.

Did not get to watch because I had two other practices to attend last night, but OT at ETSU is not terrible. They're a good team and it's a tough place to play. Statistically, looked like the turnovers and DReb% were what got us.

The thing with Karl Hess does not surprise me. He is the worst official in D1 basketball. IIRC, he cost us the 2012 UNCG game and a seed line in the SoCon Tournament that could have changed our season that year.
