Alex Mortensen

The former Samford QB is now the WRs coach for the Birmingham Iron. Alex, son of ESPN NFL analyst Chris Mortensen, transferred to Samford from Arkansas, as most on here should remember. I think it was for the 2006 season. Mortensen's grandfather lived fairly close by(Trussville maybe) and I talked with him a time or two at our games - very nice man. I was also there and talked briefly with Chris the day he came to pick up Alex to take him back to Arkansas, and he was NOT a happy camper  Alex was undrafted(duh) in 2009, but did sign as a free agent with the Titans. He appeared in one exhibition game, threw 2 passes, of which one was intercepted and returned for a TD, and two days later he was released. He has most recently been working with the Tide as an offensive graduate assistant.
