Samford Baseball vs Ga. State-Not This Time

Last year Hunter Gaddis held Samford hitless into the 6th inning and won the game with the Dogs getting only 3 hits. Today, Gaddis, the preseason AA and preseason Sun Belt Conference Pitcher of The Year took the mound against Sam Strickland. It was disastrous for the Panthers as the final was Samford 13 GSU 2. :o Also, Carson Cupo was very good as he pitched 3.1 innings, striking out 5 and giving up no runs on only one hit. Now last year this bunch swept us at JLG, so we need to keep it going and win the series.

Their live stats during the game were worthless. No diagram to show where runners were and tried to hide the count. I couldn’t even follow, so kept checking the Twitter feed.

Without a doubt 77, that's the WORST I've ever tried to follow. Ga State should be ashamed with no streaming and that mess.

Big time road sweep. Bullpen pitched 6 2/3 innings yesterday in the doubleheader only allowing 1 ER. That is outstanding. If this team can get the kind of pitching it got this weekend consistently, watch out. The lineup is dynamite.

And Anthony Mulrine was not in the lineup of the second game. Casey played true Fr. Kaden Dreier behind the plate and rested Mulrine. Resting your catcher is important as a team plays through a long season schedule. Dreier looks quite capable of filling in at that position, and that may be something of an understatement. All he did in that second game yesterday was throw out a runner in the 1st inning, throw out a runner in the 2nd inning, and hit a solo homerun for the first score of the game. :o

Drier is a big guy at 6-3, 225 who was rated as the #3 HS catcher in the state of Tennessee last year, and #17 best player overall. Casey continues to recruit at a very high level.
