We most likely lose the next four too (Wofford, WCU, UNCG, and Furman), which would place our consecutive losing streak at 11 heading into a game in Charleston with the Citadel. There is little hope we will finish with fewer than 20 losses this year.

Overall the league has grown a lot stronger and we have grown a lot weaker. Perhaps more so than at any other point since we joined the SoCon, there is a large chasm between where we sit and where the top teams in our league reside. Our KenPom is at 297. The top three teams all sit with a KenPom of 80 or better. ETSU's RPI is an impressive 42. Our RPI is 306. The hill we have a climb is a lot higher than it used to be when our conference RPI was around 20. Today it is at 13.

I don't know how you guys are able to endure this by showing up as watching this poor product of a basketball program right now. If SU was playing in my own backyard at this point I believe I would stay inside and pull the drapes. Kudos to you all for your loyalty.

I didn't make it to see the game, but I watched on streaming. There I was informed such things as, "That's a violation on Chattanooga" and "foul on Samford". WHAT the heck is the violation? :? I can think of a bunch, and would like to be informed of what is going on in the game. Who is the foul on? Give me the obscure stats or informative tidbits when there is no live action on the floor - PLEASE!

How could we devise a defense that pitted Logan Padgett trying to guard a powerful 7 footer who put on a dunking clinic?

Mercer upset ETSU on the Bucs' home floor by 16 points.

VMI led Furman by 3 points at Furman with less than 10 seconds to go. So Lyons comes down the floor and hits a circus shot to tie it up, and the Keydets lose in OT. Why not foul when the ball crosses mid-court? They can't score 3 on 2 FTs you know, and a rebound is yours if you play sound fundamentals. I think I will come out of retirement

Wait, at halftime Samford Athletics presented the Pharmacy School with a $2,500 check? What is the deal with that? Seriously, I don't recall Athletics providing funds to other departments in the past. Always thought Athletics needed the money(?) Can somebody clarify?

Harlem Globetrotters beat the Washington Generals again somewhere.

I don't know what is more of an embarrassment- the product on the floor or the one who provides play by play for that product. This is another area that is woefully inadequate that needs to be addressed. Fans from other schools tune into these games (although you would have to be absolutely sports starved to do so) and Bloom's play by play sure doesn't paint our department in a very professional light. At the very least maybe they were presented with insight into road trips to California or some baseball tid bit.

Surprised that Mercer beat ETSU by 16. It shows how little I am following SoCon basketball these days. If ETSU had a shot at any shot at an at large, it was probably squelched with that loss.

In our two games against UTC they made 31 3 pointers. Can we devise a defense that at least stops something?

It stops fans from showing up so there is that.

In reply to SU Dog’s question about the $2500 donation to MSOP: As part of the money raised by the Samford Classic golf tournament, the decision was made back in its beginning to donate a portion of the funds raised to the academic side of campus. The check in 2017 went to the School of Education. Can’t find specific news releases for other years but I think HCAS and School of Performing Arts may have been recipients.

The idea was to share the wealth, instill some goodwill.

What you won't see is this team and coach Padgett being honored at halftime in 10 years for the 10 anniversary of their conference championship.

This seems reasonable.

There are so many questions bundled into this question that it almost makes my head explode. It is best that I put the keyboard down and walk away.

Lest I forget. Samford! Ruff 'em! No, wait. Sam, not Stan! No no no, Sam dot. Fortunately, none of those slogans projects a false image of winning, at least in the money sports.
