As of today, there are no confirmed COVID-19 cases on the Samford campus or in Alabama. Nevertheless, Samford is taking measures to protect the health of its campus community.

Samford intends to maintain essential operations through the end of this semester, thereby allowing students to complete the academic work already begun for this term. How that will be accomplished, at least until April 6, will change from our normal practice.

Beginning Monday, March 16, all courses will move to online instruction. All employees will continue to work on campus until otherwise notified. Hopefully, on-campus instruction will resume on Monday, April 6. Until then, you will receive regular and frequent updates regarding all university operations that have been or may be impacted by the coronavirus.

Students may not return to campus until classroom instruction resumes. Those students living in university housing who need to retrieve books, laptops and other essential items from campus rooms can come to Samford until 5:00 p.m. on Monday, March 16 for the limited purpose of claiming those items and then promptly exiting the campus.

Saw someone say that Samford has prepared for the NCAA’s all season. Also, all empty arenas would be Samford home games.
In an imperfect world, absolute truth is divisive. There's no unity in truth. Decide then whether truth before unity or unity before truth?

All commencement ceremonies planned for May 2020 have been postponed. This was a difficult decision to make and we remain committed to celebrating these graduates with an in-person ceremony in the future. I will soon appoint an ad-hoc committee of undergraduate and graduate students and faculty who will provide essential input as we explore options for recognizing the significant accomplishments of our graduates. For students who complete their academic programs in Spring 2020, degrees will be conferred as scheduled. Diplomas will be produced as usual and there will be no changes to the availability of transcripts.
