Basketball roster 20/21

Any of our more tech savvy posters or people in the know willing to give us an update on what next year‘s roster is going to look like?

Here's what the official website has us at:

J.P. Robinson - averaged 2.4 points a game in almost 12 minutes of action per game - 3 years left
Myron Gordon - academically ineligble last season, avg. 12 points per game in 2018-2019 season - 1 year left (maybe could have taken RS last year)
Preston Parks - on 3rd school in 3 seasons, was SoCon freshman of the year 2 schools ago - 1 year left
Logan Dye - avg. 4.7 points per game, ankle injury late in season - 2 years left
Donte Tatum - avg. 4.3 points per game - 1 season left
Jalen Dupree - avg. 10.3 points per game - 1 season left
Logan Padgett - coaches son. assuming won't return?
Stanley Robinson - hasn't suited up for a game in 2 years

Signed in fall period -

Marcellus Vail - Ky. - twitter offers from Kentucky state and Kent state
Luke Champion - Ga. - twitter offers from Georgia State, Longwood, Incarnate Word

So, just from an eligibility standpoint, the roster is completely out of balance. Assuming Gordon is a senior, it leaves you with a one player junior class and one player sophmore class. That's where we are at. Good news is, if the coaches son doesn't return and the Gordon kid only has 1 year left, I think we will have 7 scholarships available between now and next year. If the signees aren't released and the coaches kid leave, that will leave us with 4 spots just for next season.

Short term forecast actually looks better than the medium range. Assuming all three return (a big if) Gordon, Tatum, and Dupree would provide some semblance of a decent squad that could keep us from being utterly embarrassed and maybe even semi competitive from time to time. After next year then we are left with Dye, J.P. Robinson and the ever elusive Stanley Robinson plus sophomores Vail and Champion and a freshman class that would be Bucky's first true class. Maybe those freshmen and sophomores can show some promise, but I think the growing pains may really start to kick in come 2021-2022. McMillan has declared that there will be no quick fixes. He has stated this is a long term plan, which means some youngsters at some point will be seeing a lot of playing time and making a lot of mistakes as they mature as players. Hopefully the foundation will be laid and some signs of some real success can begin to take shape come 2022-2023.

We’d need to sign at least two guys over 6 8 if we want to be competitive next season

Duane Reboul will be a special assistant to the head coach. https://www.al.com/sports/2020/04/baske ... mford.html

Jake Headrick and Sergio Rouco (Austin Peay assistant) are supposedly going to be on staff

Are you telling me there is a chance we could have as many or maybe even more suits involved than before? One of the highlights of last season for me was when scott and the coaches took the floor against Manhattan and Scott's buddy started playfully counting all the heads walking behind him, lol.

If Bucky gets his way there will be no suits

So far, that's only four coaches on the sidelines, right? SP had a suit for every player (including players not dressed out, which was at least 1/3 of the scholarship players).

Well, I am assuming 3 assistant coaches will be hired, an ops guy, special assistant to HC, and a HC. That's 6, and probably more to come. Doesn't really matter, just a funny observation.

DBO was retained. His and the new HC's pictures are the only two posted on the official website. We have the special assistant now. Should be three assistants named at some point.
